Seeing the general in the particular is just observing and noticing your surroundings I think. So one example of that would be watching my son play with the neighbor’s kids next door. I see them sharing and showing each other toys,laughing and giggling about something I don’t even know and giving each other hugs. It is so heartwarming to watch how children interact with each other. I guess the patterns that is supposed to represent would be the human nature of children’s need to connect and explore life. A second example of seeing the general in the particular is looking online at social media. Facebook is a popular website for people to communicate and group together. There people also can create events,share pictures, advertise products, and read about others’ lives through status’s. The general patterns that this represents are leisure and the human need to stay in contact with each other.
Seeing the strange in the familiar is when we go into the mall and see people handing out samples from their restaurant. They are using hunger as a marketing tactic to influence sales for their food. This is how society is shaping and influencing the behavior of the individual without knowing they are being influenced. Not only is the person hungry, they are getting a piece of free food. Therefore the persons’ behavior is strongly influenced by society. Hunger is the motive for the persons’ behavior.
Another example of seeing the strange in the familiar would be bullying. The…
