Member-only story
Legally when the state removes a child, they need to try to reunify the child back with the family.
Here is my Reunification timeline.
Since my son was taken away, I’ve only had two consecutive months of parenting time with him.
These visits went on from April 13th until June 16th.
The first time I met with the social worker, she asked for my “permission” if his grandparents could take him to Pennsylvania. I said no, but he still went to Pennsylvania, so I was confused why she even asked for my permission in the first place.
On May 1st I sent an email and asked the social worker if my son could join a children’s research study at the Mayo Clinic. I got no reply.
On May 6th I asked her if she was available to work on the OHPP. My visit with my son was cancelled without any notice.
May 7th we made a phone appointment and she never called me back.
May 8th I asked when we could work on the OHPP. She told me I didn’t have to do anything and that we would go through it when it was finished.
May 14th I asked if my son was seeing a therapist. No reply.
On May 28th she asked if I felt well enough to visit Delsin and go over the case plan. I replied I was feeling ill and could not make it.
Then I went to the hospital on May 29th and left June 8th.
June 9th a “parenting assessment” was done.
